About us
what we do
A few examples of Foundation activities include: installation of a mobile traffic speed indicator sign on CARC property to enhance the safety of residents and others who live nearby and walk our streets for exercise; provide sound absorbers to improve the acoustics in the Corley Center; purchased new chairs for the Corley Center, and accepted a donation for landscape planting to make the grounds more attractive; constructed a cover over the Healthcare Center ambulance entrance. Thanks to a generous donation, the Foundation has assisted in development of a wildlife nature garden on site to benefit Clemson Downs residents as well as serve as an educational tool for local schools.
what’s next
At a recent board meeting the following projects were discussed:
- The Spot There is a need for electrical power at the Spot. We have one cost estimate for adding electrical power but it was agreed that additional estimates should be solicited.
- The Thicket: A plan for Thicket clearing and planting has been developed by a CU Landscape Architecture student (Alexa) who has met with landscaping professionals. CU ROTC students will most likely perform additional clearing this Fall.
- Grant requests have been received for a number of landscaping enhancements outside the Health Care Center and patio furniture. A motion to allocate $700 for the plantings was passed by unanimous vote
